Big Bamboo

Big Bamboo overview – a Push Gaming hit

The Big Bamboo game was released in 2022 from the Push Gaming workshop and has since become a favourite of streamers and players hunting big wins. The calm of the bamboo forest is deceptive: the slot has one of the highest win ceilings on the market, with up to 50,000x your bet achievable.

The Big Bamboo slot runs on a 5-reel, 6-row grid with 50 paylines. The game's engine is the Mystery Bamboo symbols, which can reveal anything – including the Golden Bamboo feature, where instant prizes, collectors and multipliers spin.

Big Bamboo can be played at online casinos in both real-money and free demo mode.

Theme and design

The game takes you into a mystical, green-glowing bamboo forest, where the tall, 6-row grid itself resembles bamboo columns. Pandas, boars, monkeys and vividly coloured birds spin on the reels alongside card symbols, all accompanied by calm, oriental melodies. The clean, almost zen-like visuals stand in sharp contrast to the game's wild maths – it's exactly this duality that gives Big Bamboo the distinctive character players talk about so much.

Gameplay and mechanics

Big Bamboo pays on a 5×6 grid across 50 fixed paylines: at least 3 matching symbols are needed from left to right (the wild and the panda pay from 2). The key element is the Mystery Bamboo: these symbols all flip over at once, always revealing the same randomly chosen symbol – possibly a wild or even a Golden Bamboo icon. If the Mystery symbols show Golden Bamboo, the game's most lucrative feature starts immediately. Scatters award free spins, and four kinds of bonus buy are also available.

RTP and volatility

Big Bamboo's default RTP is 96.13%, slightly above the industry average; the value shifts a little with the bonus buys and the gamble feature, and some casinos may run a 94.13% version – the exact percentage can be checked on the game's info screen. Volatility is distinctly high: the base game can stay quiet for long stretches, but when the Mystery symbols, multipliers and collectors align, exceptional payouts occur. The slot is clearly built for risk-tolerant players.

Jackpot – maximum win

Big Bamboo is not a progressive jackpot game, but its win ceiling is one of the highest on the market: 50,000x your bet. Record payouts are born in the Golden Bamboo feature, where instant prizes of up to 5,000x are boosted by 2x–10x multipliers and the collector symbols sweep them all in at once.

How to play the Big Bamboo slot

Big Bamboo is a feature-rich slot, so it's strongly recommended to learn the mechanics first in the free Big Bamboo demo. Real-money play works like this:

1. Pick a licensed online casino from our toplist where the Big Bamboo casino game is available.
2. Register, verify your details and activate the welcome offer.
3. Deposit funds using a payment method convenient for you.
4. Open the game and set your bet between €0.10 and €100.
5. Spin and watch for Mystery Bamboo columns and scatters.
6. When you win, you can request a withdrawal in the casino's cashier.

Because of the very high volatility, it's best to play with small bets and a generous budget – Big Bamboo shows its true face over the long run.

Big Bamboo symbols and payouts table

The game features four premium animal symbols and four card symbols, with the wild tied with the panda as the most valuable. The values below are expressed as multiples of your bet.

The exact, version-dependent values can be found in the in-game paytable.

Special features of Big Bamboo

Big Bamboo kneads Push Gaming's most inventive features together: the mystery symbols, the instant-prize Golden Bamboo and the upgradeable free spins together ensure that the possibility of a big explosion lives in every spin.

Mystery Bamboo symbols

The mysterious bamboo symbols can appear on any spin, all revealing the same random symbol – a paying symbol, a wild or a Golden Bamboo icon. A whole column of Mystery symbols with the right reveal can bring enormous line wins.

Golden Bamboo feature

If the Mystery symbols reveal Golden Bamboo, every affected position spins separately: instant prizes (1x–5,000x), 2x–10x multipliers and collector symbols can arrive. The collector sweeps in every visible value and stays in place until the end of the feature – this is where the slot's legendary payouts are born.

Free spins with collection meters

In the bonus, the card symbols and scatters fill separate meters: when one fills, that card symbol turns into Mystery Bamboo for the rest of the round, accompanied by extra spins and 2x–10x Golden Bamboo multipliers. The bonus's starting offer can also be gambled with the Gamble Scatter feature.

Big Bamboo demo mode

The Big Bamboo demo at the top of this page is available for free, with no registration or download. The demo version runs on a virtual balance; the rules, the RTP and every feature match the real-money variant. Since Big Bamboo is a more complex slot than average, the demo is the best place to understand the Mystery symbols, the Golden Bamboo and the meter system – risk-free, over as many spins as you need.

Big Bamboo on mobile devices

Push Gaming develops with a "mobile first" approach, so Big Bamboo runs from the browser on every modern iOS and Android device, without a separate Big Bamboo app. The tall, 6-row grid looks especially good in portrait mode on a phone, and the feature animations stay smooth even on small screens. The slot is also available in casinos' mobile apps, with the same account and balance as on desktop.

How to increase your chances in Big Bamboo – tips for players

Big Bamboo's outcome is determined by a random number generator, but because of the extreme volatility, disciplined bankroll management is even more important here than usual. Experienced players follow these principles:

• Learn the features in the free Big Bamboo demo mode before placing real bets.
• Set a strict budget and prepare for long stretches without wins.
• Choose a low bet – the 50,000x ceiling can mean a life-changing win even with small stakes.
• Check the RTP on the info panel and choose a casino offering the 96.13% version.
• The bonus buy and the Gamble Scatter increase variance – recommended for experienced players only.
• Take advantage of casino bonuses, but always read the wagering requirements.

And most importantly: bring the calm of the bamboo forest with you into the game – never chase losses.
